Radiator and heating repairs in Avonmouth
Cold radiators, leaking valves, pressure problems and new radiators. We work on the water side of heating systems, not on gas.
Heating problems we fix
- Cold at the top, warm at the bottom: trapped air. It needs bleeding.
- Cold at the bottom, warm at the top: often sludge inside.
- One radiator stays cold: a stuck valve, a closed lockshield or poor balancing.
- Leaking valves or radiators: worn glands, loose fittings or corrosion.
- System losing pressure: usually a leak somewhere in the system.
- Noisy pipes: banging, gurgling or ticking.
What we can do
- Bleeding and balancing radiators
- Replacing radiator valves, including thermostatic valves
- Fitting new or replacement radiators
- Moving radiators to a different wall
- Finding and fixing leaks in heating pipework
- Draining down and refilling systems
How to bleed a radiator
- Turn the heating off and let radiators cool.
- Hold a cloth under the bleed valve at the top corner.
- Turn the key anticlockwise about a quarter turn until air hisses out.
- Close it when water appears.
- Check the boiler pressure gauge. If it has dropped, your boiler manual explains how to top it up.
If radiators need bleeding often, air is getting in somewhere, and that’s worth investigating.
Heating in Avonmouth homes
Homes in Avonmouth range from older terraces to post-war and modern houses. In older homes, central heating was usually added later and often extended in stages, which can leave long pipe runs and systems that are hard to balance. We’ll look at how your system is laid out before suggesting changes.
Questions
Can you service my boiler?
No. We do not work on boilers or gas appliances.
Can you fit a new radiator?
Yes, as a replacement or an addition to your system.
Why does my pressure keep dropping?
Usually water is escaping somewhere: a valve, radiator or joint. We can trace it.
