Emergency plumber in Avonmouth
Burst pipe, water through the ceiling, or a toilet that won’t stop overflowing? Ring any time, day or night, at home or at work.
What counts as an emergency
If water is going somewhere it shouldn’t and you can’t stop it, that’s an emergency. The calls we get most are:
- Burst or split pipes, often in cold weather or in lofts and unheated spaces
- Water coming through a ceiling or light fitting
- A toilet overflowing, or a cistern that won’t stop filling
- A blocked toilet when it’s the only one in the house, or the only staff toilet at work
- A leaking radiator, valve or heating pipe that won’t stop
- Waste water backing up into a sink, shower or floor drain
Some problems feel urgent but can usually wait a few hours: a dripping tap or a slow sink. If you’re not sure, ring and we’ll tell you honestly.
What to do while you wait
- Turn off the water at the internal stop tap. Usually under the kitchen sink, near the front door or under the stairs. In a business unit, look near where the supply comes in.
- Keep away from wet electrics. If water is near sockets, lights or the consumer unit, switch off at the main switch if it’s safe to reach.
- Drain the system. Open the cold taps and flush toilets once to empty the pipes.
- Catch what you can. Buckets and towels under the leak, and move stock, paperwork or electricals out of the way.
- Ring us on 07468 343800.
How emergency call-outs work
When you ring, we’ll ask what’s happening, where it is and whether you’ve managed to stop the water. You’ll get a free quote over the phone before we set off. When we arrive, the first job is to make it safe and stop the water. Sometimes that’s a full repair on the spot; sometimes it’s a temporary fix until a proper repair can be booked. We’ll explain which and why.
Emergencies at work
Much of Avonmouth is warehouses, units and workshops. A burst pipe or a blocked staff toilet can stop work, so tell us when you ring if you need us to work around opening hours, deliveries or site access. Let us know about gate codes, site sign-in or which entrance to use, and we’ll come prepared.
Cold weather
Avonmouth is exposed to the estuary, and pipes in lofts, outbuildings, garages and empty units are the ones most likely to freeze and split. If a tap gives nothing in freezing weather, turn off the stop tap before anything thaws, and ring us.
