Signs of a plumbing problem

• Water on the floor after a wash
• The machine won’t drain, or drains slowly
• Water appears in the sink when the machine empties

• The machine won’t fill, or fills slowly

A machine that won’t fill can be as simple as a closed valve. Check the lever valve on the pipe behind it is in line with the pipe.

Plumbing in a new appliance

1. Tell us where it’s going and what’s already there.
2. We check the supply and waste are suitable and not leaking.
3. We add what’s missing: a cold feed with a valve, and a waste connection.
4. We connect and test with a fill and drain.

Hard water

Bristol Water describes its water as moderately hard to very hard. Following the manufacturer’s descaling advice helps keep appliance valves and hoses working.
